Cars in Germany's City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report
Local Police
Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then discovered numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the substance was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the residents for information.
A senior representative commented the attack made him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on online, referring to the murder of nine victims by a assailant aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
